I didn’t realize that. Am I missing something? Why would he then run to represent a southern Maryland district? I vote in district 5 and don’t want a carpet bagger coming in and representing the district.
Who can run for congress is governed by the Constitution and the only requirement as far as residency is that you have to live in the state you're running in. That probably made sense back when they wrote the Constitution. But now it's leaves a loophole where anybody can run in any District in their state. So when there's a vacancy you get people running. The district takes in most of the eastern half of Prince George's County, Charles County St. St. Mary's County, Calvert County and from Annapolis South in Anne Arundel County. If you can picture those areas that's primarily more rural. The close to DC part of Prince George's county is in 4, the more rural part of the county is in five. Charles's more rural very much like Southern Prince George's County St. Mary Calvert and the southern part of Anne Arundel. Kind of similar more Republicans but still not an urban setting.
I hope Wala Blegay or Harry Dunn win. Didn’t Harry Dunn previously run in the primary for District 3? So I assume he has since moved to District 5?
To the best of my knowledge, Harry Dunn lives in District 7 Montgomery County.
